MONTHLY CLUB MEETINGS
On the 4th Saturday of each month (Usually). Next scheduled meeting:

Saturday March 18th Wildflower & Car Show Cruise to Floresville! CANCELLED SEE BELOW Stan and I have been following the weather conditions and here is what is predicted for tomorrow. 9am 41 degrees and 80-96% chance of rain and windy. Plus another cold front is now projected to come in tonight again from what I heard. So we made the decision to cancel tomorrows activity because no one would want to be out in 41 degrees, and raining to take pix of Wildflowers or see classic cars. So this Cruise is now set for Saturday, March 25th our normal meeting date. Most of the details set up for tomorrow will apply for that Cruise, with a few changes since we will not be going to Floresville to see a car show. But we WILL go there to eat lunch. BTW the projected weather for the 25th is 81 degrees & 1% chance of rain!

Glen just told me that they WILL be having their car show tomorrow minus the classic cars, and just have Coffee. I asked him if he could hold their car show on the 25th instead and he said no because they are going to another car show just north of Floresville. It turns out that Chris Mannifield owns 181 Auto repairs on FM 775 just north of Floresville and on the last Saturday of the month hosts a coffee and donuts car show, 9am-11am. Chris, according to Glen is an excellent mechanic who does a lot of general auto repairs and classic car work also. He is also a USAF Vet who worked on B-1 Bombers. Stan and I talked about this and think it will be a good alternative to do. I spoke with his wife and advised her that we will be coming to visit them for coffee & donuts and see the classic cars that will be there.

181 Auto

After 11am we will Cruise to Floresville right down the road from it for lunch at Fluffs White House Cafe. 1307 3rd St, Floresville, TX, 78114 (830) 393-1059

Meet up times and location remain the same. San Antonio 9am. Seguin 8:30am. What is different is we will first be going to visit 181 Auto north of Floresville. Taking S1604E-Hwy 181S Exxon Gas Station to FM775. 1st stop light at FM775 LEFT turn (East) at Valaro gas station. 1 mile on left see 181 Auto sign on the left, turn left into it. It is about a 10 minute drive from our San Antonio meet up place.

Exxon Tex Best Travel Center 15503 S U.S. Hwy 181, Elmendorf 78112 210-892-2400

This gas station is right across the road from the Valero gas station we met at the last time. It also has a lot more space to meet at. You will see it in advance and turn off onto the side road that will take you right to the station. We will be able to get back on Hwy 181S right down the road.

Roy will need to determine the best way to get there, but here is what Chris's wife told me for them. Meeting location: Tractor Supply on Hwy 123.

Seguin to FM725 to FM775/Sweet Horre Rd to FM 775 turn West on FM 775 towards New Berlin thru it to La Vernia thought it. Continue down FM775 past Shell Station 4-5 miles past station to fire dept. 181 Auto is 2 miles beyond that on rite side.

Ray Clark STTC President 210-875-1411

It was a good idea for Stan and I to cruise down IH-37 to Hiwy 97 and the drive east to Floresville. By doing so we found there was marginal Wildflower displays going that route. Glen Mabe the Car Show Club President suggested we go back north on 4th Street/US Business 181N. We did and found much better Wildflower displays along that route as we returned to San Antonio. Another benefit is that the shoulders are all pavement, with plenty of room away from passing traffic which there is a fair amount of. Those stopping to take pix on the trip back north will need to take precautions when getting out on the drivers side. For a little better safety, you could pull over onto grass a bit to get you a little further to the right of the right hand lane.

Stan and I have made the decision NOT to go down IH-37-Hwy 97E. Presently, it is just not warranted. We will see much better Wildflowers of all types driving South to Floresville and back North after enjoying the Car Show and having Lunch. So here is the change of the meet up place for the San Antonio faction. There will also be a change for those meeting in Seguin to cruise together.

It is suggested that when the Car Show is over and we want to eat lunch that we go to Fluff's White House Burger Cafe to eat. I am told that it has great food and service. I am also told that like the Jail, & Hospital it is also haunted! 1307 3rd St,781134 Floresville, (830)393-1059
